Rose Cottage | A romantic cottage for couples with a hot tub and log burner near York

This contemporary couples retreat is luxurious, pet friendly and has a private hot tub, while only six miles from the gorgeous walled city of York. Rose Cottage has been bespoke made, with a calm and plush interior, as well as a cosy log burner and large open plan living space.

The location is perfect for visiting the famed York city, with its Roman roots and Viking past, and its beautiful central shambles, full of quirky shops and restaurants. Along with this, you also have the countryside right at your feet, with the cottage situated on Hoxne Farm in the village of Strensall, just a 15 minute drive from the start of the North York Moors National Park.

Leave your car at the cottage’s easy on-site parking and head into your newly-created cottage. Inside Rose Cottage, you’ll first notice the large open plan interior, with its tasteful grey and silver colour scheme and its warm yellow accents.

Here, you’ll find two large comfy sofas, a smart TV and built in sound system, and free super fast wifi. We really like the toasty log burner in this space, where you can put your feet up in the evenings. Across from this is the kitchen space, which has been decked out with everything you could want for whipping up meals while you’re away. The kitchen area includes an oven, microwave and dishwasher, along with a washing machine.

Head to the master bedroom, and you’ll find another calming space, complete with king size bed, all fitting a muted colour scheme to give it a peaceful feel. There’s a second bedroom, complete with twin beds too, and a high chair and travel cot can be provided on request if you are bringing a young child along. The bathroom is sleek and modern and functions as a wet room, while also looking light and contemporary. It includes a double shower, and towels are provided for your stay. Rose Cottage also has disabled access throughout so it’s accessible for all.

One of the cottage’s outstanding features is its five-seater hot tub, which sits just outside on private decking, ready for you to enjoy. There’s also a barbecue outside, perfect for summer lunches in the sun.

When you are ready to explore what the area has to offer, you can choose either city or country. We are huge fans of the walled city of York, with its 13th century Gothic cathedral and famous Jorvik Viking Centre, Clifford’s Tower and York Dungeons. Alongside all this history, which fills this city, we love all the unique shops, its Everyman Cinema, the beautiful York Gallery and Goddards - a five-acre hidden garden now cared for by the National Trust.

If you’re a foodie, you can take the York on a Fork Food Tour, or drop into Brew York Brewery, and Cooper King Distillery. The city is full of eateries - keep your eyes out for the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms, and if you’re looking for a treat perhaps consider fine dining at Melton’s.
