Y Capel | Escape to this romantic cottage with hot tub in Mid Wales

Eclectic, with a sense of fun and definitely not your average cottage - this is Y Capel. Lovingly restored by owners Siwan & Jake, this romantic cottage is nestled in the middle of a stunning Welsh valley. With bags of character, a spectacular copper bath, private hot tub and unspoilt surroundings this is the ideal place to unwind and forget all about the fast pace of day to day life.

Enter through the stable door and you’ll be greeted by the quirky oak dining table for two. To the right is the well equipped kitchen with everything you’ll need to create a lazy breakfast, healthy lunch or romantic dinner. The downstairs wet room is generous and stylish with luxury features such as the underfloor heating.

An open plan living space holds a cosy sofa in front of the Welsh made wood burner. The star of this area has to be the handmade copper bath, large enough for both of you to have a good long soak. We love the detail of the heart-shaped copper pipe - enough to make anyone’s heart melt.

Up the floating handmade oak staircase you’ll find the mezzanine bedroom, again with a unique combination of bespoke wooden furniture and a contemporary glass and chrome railing. We dare say you will struggle to get up from this dreamy bed, complete with a huge skylight, perfect for lazy lie-ins or romantic star gazing evenings.

Outside is the private cottage garden where you can truly unwind in the secluded Jacuzzi hot tub. Relax under the night sky and enjoy the tranquility of this romantic retreat.

Siwan and Jake live on site in the old farm house and are always happy to help with a wealth of local information and knowledge on how to make the most of your stay. Of course, there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to tear yourself away from this enchanting spot, but if you’re looking for a little adventure then you’re ideally situated with mountains, beaches, forests and quaint market towns all within a 40 minute radius.

Walk along the many local footpaths up the mountain to the nearest trig-point and take the stunning panoramic valley views before heading back down into the village for a pint in the local pub, or why not grab all you need for a cosy night in from the well stocked village shop, full of local produce.

A little further afield is Cadair Idris, an imposing and atmospheric mountain to spend a sunny day of walking, with the Cross Foxes Bar & Grill very conveniently situated at it’s foot if the walk to the top looks a little too strenuous.

Head out to the coast and spend the day in the seemingly endless dunes at Ynys Las, or take a jaunt along the Victorian seafront of Aberystwyth.

If country walks and seaside strolls aren’t your thing and you’re looking for a little bit of action then head straight for ‘Zip World’ the longest zip wire in Europe, where you’re sure to get your adrenaline fix!

And don’t worry if you don’t fancy cooking, there’s a wealth of choice in this neck of the woods, with a collection of Michelin stars, exquisite scenery and fresh local produce, and not forgetting the all important locally brewed ales - if you time your stay just right you could even make the real ale festival in Bishop’s Castle.

Whether it’s action and adventure, stunning scenery and wildlife or luxury spa and fine dining Mid Wales certainly has a lot to offer, and Y Capel is right in the middle of it all.
