The Yurt Hideaway, near Carmarthen
The Welsh Farm

Nestled in the woods is this lovely hot tub retreat. The Yurt Hideaway is set in the West Wales countryside, close to the hills and coastline, making it a great choice if you enjoy exploring the outdoors. You can head to the beautiful sandy Barafundle Bay, or the more hidden Monkstone Point. It is only four hours from London, but it feels like a million miles from the city – making this a great rural escape. You can bring your favourite pooch along too.
Head up to this romantic retreat and you’ll find yourself in your own leafy part of the world. Your yurt fits snugly into the countryside, with birdsong all around.
Step inside, and you’ll find this space made for maximum cosiness. There’s a beautiful handmade oak bed, made up with Welsh woollen blankets and a heated blanket, all set for a peaceful night’s sleep under the sky window, so you can gaze up at the stars.
Across from here, set on the yurt’s beautiful wooden flooring, you’ll find a bespoke dining table, ready and waiting for a romantic meal for two. The whole space can be kept super toasty, thanks to the wood burning stove, with plentiful sustainable logs cut ready for your stay.
There’s a fully equipped kitchen area, with gas hobs, a fridge, and everything you might need for cooking while you’re away – there’s even a Belfast sink to add to the quality country feel. Just a few metres away is your own shepherd’s hut washroom, with a double hot shower.
This is a retreat specifically designed for two, and yurt owners Joe and Beth allow a well-behaved pooch at the yurt too. With easy access into the farm woods, this is the perfect adventure you and your 4 legged friend!
Outside the yurt you’ll find a pizza oven waiting to be lit. It is usually under the watchful gaze of several cows in the neighbouring field. We think this would make a memorable dinner date under the outdoor pendant light, or sat in the sunny countryside – clearly the cows agree!
Meanwhile, you’ll find one of the standout features at this retreat nearby too – its hot tub. You can lay back here in the evening and watch the stars, or make a day of it and enjoy living a life of luxury amidst the bubbles.
The yurt owner’s site funds Malawian children through secondary school and supports vital reforestation projects, so you are supporting a charity initiative at The Yurt Hideaway – check it out at www.fromwales.com.
While you’re here, there is a lot to do. If you are a fan of the outdoors, try canoeing, bird-watching, mountain biking, or one of the many hikes that take you across the area. We would recommend a trip out exploring the beaches mentioned earlier, and then there’s the National Botanical Gardens to explore too, and boat trips taking you out to spot dolphins or call in at Caldey Island the home of Cisterian Monks.
