The Country Yurt | A dog friendly romantic hot tub yurt set on a country farm in Wales

This peaceful holiday escape mixes the good country life – with starry skies at night and the cluck of farm chickens in the day – with the luxury of a stylish hot tub yurt. The Country Yurt, in rural Carmarthenshire, is set on a quarter acre of farmland, placing you near to some beautiful natural wonders in South West Wales, or you can just pop into the farm woods to explore. Within an easy drive away you can enjoy the Four Waterfalls Walk, Llansteffan Castle and the Gwili Steam Railway, as well as dozens of beaches and hikes. It’s an ideal choice for a comfy gateway to the outdoors – and it’s a pet friendly retreat too.

Drive up to the site, and you’ll find your new home-from-home tucked between the trees and fauna of this leafy part of the country. Outside, you’ll spot your own wood-fired pizza oven, perfect for an al fresco lunch, sat on the outdoor seating. There’s space for an open fire here too, with a hanging cooking tripod, so you could make a seriously good chilli, or melt marshmallows, out in the open. Turn the lights off to enjoy the stary nights, or the tree lights on to create the magic.

When you enter into this well wrapped romantic retreat, you’ll find a beautiful interior, with unique handmade wood pieces, all made on the farm. There’s a luxury oak king size bed, for a cosy night’s sleep, and across from here you’ll see the reclaimed and restored pine table which makes a lovely setting for a romantic meal for two.

The Country Yurt has its own toasty log burning fire and a cosy heated blanket, so you’ll be super snug in the night time. The yurt’s owners Joe and Beth have filled the kitchen storage with all the little pieces you might need to help you feel at home too – with a cafetiere, egg cups…champagne glasses. There’s your own washroom, with toilet and shower just a few metres away.

There’s wooden flooring running through the yurt, making this space both beautiful and super practical for dog owners who would like to bring a well-behaved pooch or two along too.

One standout feature at this retreat is its own bubbling hot tub, which is exclusively yours for the time of your stay. It has 39 degrees of soothing bubbles, which make it the perfect setting for a laid back afternoon, a self-proclaimed spa-day, or a romantic evening under the stars.

There are chickens for fresh eggs in the morning, fruit bushes for a little taste of nature, and a little vegetable garden. Days spent here are sure to leave you refreshed. Meanwhile, it’s good to know that this retreat helps fund Malawian children through secondary school, as well as supporting a reforestation programme, so stays here support others too.

Once you are ready to head out and explore, the coast is just a hop away in the car. You are ideally located to visit the North, South and West coasts of Dyfed. The area is scattered with historic castles – there’s Carreg Castell Cennen, with its unusual lower caves, and Laugharne, the home of the poet Dylan Thomas. Then there’s canoeing, bird-watching, horse-riding and mountain-biking. You can be as busy, or as laid back, as you like.
