This two bedroomed lodge is perfectly positioned to take in the breathtaking views of the gently rolling countryside that surrounds you. Here you can feel yourself relax and slow down as you watch the local sheep and cattle graze in the green valley below or observe the pair of red kites circle the skies above.

Upper Gelli Lodge has been thoughtfully designed and some rare vintage finds like the chandeliers and mirrors give this space a real charm and warmth. The living room is a cosy open space with comfy seating around the log burner and double doors onto the stunning decking area. The kitchen is very generous and a real cook’s kitchen; all the utensils, crockery and appliances are there to impress your partner with your cooking skills. The dining area is perfect for a lazy morning’s breakfast, a romantic meal or just to sit and watch the view.

Both bedrooms are very romantic with painted wood cladding, comfy brass beds and antique furniture. The vintage decorations and pictures add real character, making this not just any luxury lodge.

The star of the show has to be the luxurious hot tub in its enviable position on the decking. Totally private and with its far reaching views this is a unique place to relax and take in those glorious sunsets. Kept at a steady 40 degrees you can enjoy this luxury in the height of summer or the depth of winter - perfect all year round.

It’s all the little extras that make this place even more special and there is no doubt as to where in the country you are staying… We love the welcome basket with local Welsh produce, the shower and shampoo products from Myddfai Luxury Welsh toiletries, and the soap and beauty products from Llanvelly natural skin care.

Upper Gelli’s location on the Welsh borders makes it a great base for exploring the area. Shrewsbury is only a short drive away with its medieval cobbled streets and lots of little boutiques and cafes. Head West on a scenic tour and you’ll be able to enjoy the rocky coves and white sandy beaches of the Welsh coastline. But there is so much to see and do nearby as well. We highly recommend Powys Castle for lovers of romantic gardens and history. Ros also recommends some of the local garden centres with gift shops and cafes. And there is no shortage of walks, even from your doorstep. With the lodge’s good selection of books and maps on the subject you’ll never struggle to find something to do.

With its peaceful and secluded setting, stunning views and handy location, Upper Gelli really is a very special place to be. I think we might be getting just a little bit jealous of Ros and Gary…
