Slow down and unwind at this laid back Devon hot tub cottage set in beautiful rolling countryside near to Totnes and Dartmoor. The Oystercatcher is an ideal romantic retreat for those seeking a little luxury, with your own wood burning stove, a private hot tub, and great views from your door.

The cottage is set in six acres of peaceful fields and meadows, which remain undisturbed apart from the few chickens that live nearby. From here, you are just a short drive away from some of Devon’s most beautiful beaches including Torquay, and the charming coastal town of Brixham, making this a great place to begin your South West adventures.

Step in through The Oystercatcher’s front door and you’ll find a friendly open plan living space. There’s a comfy blue sofa set next to your own wood burner, for toasty nights in, and you’ll find logs provided.

Across from here is a table and chairs for two, making the perfect breakfast spot. In the kitchen area, there’s everything you might need for your time away, including an oven and hobs, and a fridge and freezer. Keep your eyes peeled for some tasty treats to get your holiday started right - including handmade biscotti from the cottage owners, as well as organic coffees, teas and milk.

Through the doorway, you’ll find the bedroom, which is spacious and contains a comfy double bed, completed with organic linen, as well as duck and goose down pillows and a Devon wool duvet. Out the window you’ll find more of those lovely country views.

The bathroom is a light and spacious affair, including a large shower, and a bathtub for a proper soak after long walks by the coast. You’ll find a hairdryer, fluffy towels and eco friendly toiletries too.

When the weather is sunny, take your coffee outdoors on the terrace. There are great views all around. And, when you are ready for some true indulgence, hop into your own wood-fired hot tub. This uses fresh water and no chemicals - so you can relax in style. Pay a £25 fee to use the hot tub and the owners will light it and bring it up to temperature for you.

A well-behaved pooch or two is welcome to come along with you for your holiday. The cottage accepts small and medium size dogs for a £45 fee, provided you contact the owner ahead of your stay.

The Oystercatcher is part of Mill Cross Retreats - a couple-run enterprise, which includes two other holiday retreats and a cookery school. There’s plenty to do while you’re here. Head out on coastal walks galore, with maps and walking books provided. Or, if you fancy a day out with a difference, try the South Devon Railway.
