The Little Barn | A pint-sized oak hideaway in the rolling countryside of rural Sussex

The Little Barn is hidden away in the rural Sussex hamlet of Piltdown, set between the trees near to the Ouse Valley Way. It’s a modern luxury retreat with a fresh feel – great for Londoners seeking a complete break, an easy hop from the capital.

The Little Barn has a breezy open feel, with wooden floorboards and rugs. There is a super king sized double bed with bedside tables, a comfortable sofa, and a flatscreen TV. The barn has a light and airy shower room, with a power shower.

For the master chefs out there, there is a dining area with a table, two chairs and French windows overlooking the garden. The modern kitchen space is well equipped, and for anyone who fancies eating out, you are less than a two-mile stroll away from the local pub. And on balmy days, you can sit back in the garden, and use the barbecue provided for some al fresco dining. Lovely.

The Little Barn studio is situated down a quiet, winding country lane in the Lower Weald of East Sussex. The studio is approached via a pathway encircling the owner’s house, and there is off-road parking available.

When you are ready to explore, there is lots to see in the local area. The Little Barn is only 3.5 miles from the town of Uckfield and only 20 minutes to Glyndebourne where the famous Opera House is situated. The Ashdown Forest, the home of “Winnie the Pooh”, is a ten minute drive away.

Both the North Downs and newly created South Downs National Park are within easy driving distance. The National Trust run Sheffield Park, an 18th century informal landscape garden, and Wilderness Wood a family run sustainable woodland in the Sussex Weald are also popular places of interest nearby. For those interested in local wildlife The Little Barn can also offer badger watching as there is a sett at the bottom of the paddock and at least another four setts in the adjoining fields.
