The Invergarry | A stylish yet cosy hot tub cottage for couples in Aboyne on the edge of The Cairngorms National Park

When owners Ron and Sheila first saw the dilapidated former gardener’s cottage in the grounds of what was to become their new home, they just knew that this could become the perfect romantic retreat for couples. So they combined the best ingredients from their own travel experiences and set out to create The Invergarry, a stylish yet cosy holiday retreat with hot tub on the edge of The Cairngorms National Park.

As it turns out, The Invergarry is a bit of a triumph. It effortlessly combines the old with the new; contemporary yet cosy, stylish yet relaxed. Walk in through the newly created entrance and to your right you will find the stunning lounge. With its full-width bifolding doors the room opens up onto the generous patio and brings the outside into this light filled room. A comfy leather sofa and stylish chaise longue are the perfect places to sit back and take in the views towards Birsemore Hill and Craigendinnie or relax and enjoy your favourite film on the large 4G TV.

Back through the entrance hall you enter the original cottage which has been completely remodelled and now houses the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen is finished to a very high standard featuring Neff appliances and marble worktops. The colour palette has been kept to a minimum here and the bespoke dining table matches beautifully with its own marble top and the Habitat chairs encourage you to linger. From the kitchen you can wander onto the separate private patio where you can have your breakfast or coffee in the morning sun.

The bedroom is super romantic and appeals to the senses with mood lighting, soft fabrics, the large bed and lots of cushions. The original timber walls remain and add real character. The separate bathroom houses a freestanding slipper bath with Champagne table and mood lighting. On the other side of the bedroom is the newly built wet room with huge walk in shower for two and doors leading outside to the luxurious large hot tub, shielded by larch cladding to give you total privacy.

It’s this inside / outside relationship that makes The Invergarry so special. The spaces flow into each other allowing you to make the most of them no matter what the weather.

If you can pull yourself away from this very special cottage for couples then you’ll find that this is a fantastic setting for any romantic break in Scotland’s Highlands. The village of Aboyne has a great selection of places to eat, drink and shop, from The Boat Inn where you can find a good menu with quality locally sourced fare to the specialist wine and spirits section at George Strachan Ltd. And of course there are plenty of distilleries on your doorstep as well as some really good farm shops.

The breathtaking scenery never ceases to amaze and walking is one of the many pleasures you can enjoy here. And if the natural landscape isn’t enough for you then visit some of the impressive country houses and castles, perfect for a romantic day out. But at the end of the day what’s better than returning to your very own stylish retreat and relax and recharge at The Invergarry.
