Couples who want to explore North Devon – with its nearby coastline, its famous Tarka Trail for walking and cycling, and its medieval town of Barnstaple or epic Valley of the Rocks – will find everything at their feet from Stable Cottage, situated near the market town of Holsworthy.

This little labour of love has been specially refurbished for comfort and modern style. Step inside and you’ll find the airy open plan living room – with two comfortable sofas for relaxing in the evening, in front of a cosy wood effect fire. There’s a large flatscreen TV too, and free wifi, so you’ll be well connected while you’re away. This open plan living space feels relaxed, and the island in the centre means you can cook while your partner kicks back – or the other way around! There’s a dining table, which seats up to four people, and the modern kitchen houses everything you’d expect from a home, so you can relax and treat the place as yours. A wander through from here leads to the master bedroom, with luxury king size bed and a calming country feel. There’s a bathroom in the room next door, newly refurbished, with a modern ‘rainfall shower’. And, if you’re bringing friends or children along for your holiday, they have their own space, newly created, upstairs, with a twin room, complete with ensuite toilet and view of the countryside.

The most glamorous feature at this retreat must surely be its private outdoor hot tub. You’ll find this in your enclosed terrace garden, just outside. It would make the perfect spot for evening relaxing under the stars, or a truly indulgent morning.

There’s private parking, so you’ll have no problems getting here. And your well behaved pooch is welcome to join you too. Once you are ready to explore, you have a world of walking and cycling at your feet, with the southern English countryside ready and waiting for you.

Stable Cottage is situated at The Lakes at Tinney Waters, a great spot for fishing. There are lakes with carp, tench, rudd, perch and bream, to name a few – and the cottage owner is something of an expert in that department, so if you’re a keen fishing pair it’s an ideal place to holiday. If not, you can simply enjoy the tranquillity of being around so much nature.

From your starting point in Holsworthy, a quaint market town dating back to the 12th century, you will find yourself only a short distance from the rugged cliffs of the Hartland Peninsula and the sandy beaches of Bude and Saunton Sands, as well as Woolacombe.
