We think you will love this romantic retreat in Somerset. The Birdhouse is a secluded ‘treehouse’ that looks like an enormous - you guessed it - birdhouse on stilts. It has a playful feel to it with modern, bright and airy interiors and quirky windows that frame the views perfectly. The setting is magical; this romanic cottage for couples is located on an organic farm surrounded by rolling countryside and tucked away in a private woodland clearing. Complete with woodland hot tub, large balcony, fire pit and outside mood lighting, this is glamping at its very best.

The Birdhouse is located on The Yurt Retreat in rural Somerset. This adults-only glamping retreat offers peace and seclusion in a wonderful quiet setting - perfect for that all important ‘getting away from it all’ feeling. Make your way through the small gate in the hedge and follow the path into the clearing in the woods, leading down to the Birdhouse. This is a magical setting with its mixed woodland, large ferns, dappled sunlight and relaxing birdsong. The wooden steps lead you up to the large rustic balcony from where you can soak up the surroundings or do some romantic stargazing at night.

Once inside, you’ll be greeted by the light and airy large space with vaulted ceilings. The open plan living, dining and sleeping space offers a fully equipped kitchen with all the mod cons you might need to cook up a great meal. Here, the high quality German stainless steel appliances are contrasted with wood reclaimed from old army nissen huts.

The bedroom area is tucked away behind the corner, giving some privacy when desired. Imagine pulling up the blinds in the morning to be greeted by the beautiful tree views from the large windows. From here, you can also access the generous and luxurious bathroom with walk in shower with large rain shower head.

There is also plenty of space around the Birdhouse. The large balcony is great for sunbathing, enjoying a meal or some serious stargazing. You also have your own private woodland garden around the cottage, complete with seating and a fire pit, perfect for toasting marshmallows.

We love the use of wood in this romantic retreat; from the flooring to the furniture and from the balcony to the cladding - this hideaway can rightly be called a treehouse!

On your days out we recommend Lyme Regis, just a 30 minute drive from The Birdhouse. Set on the fabulous Jurassic Coast, this historic seaside town offers lots of boutiques, independent shops, cafes, restaurants and of course a great seafront and beach.

For that special meal out we recommend Lord Poulett Arms which won the National dining pub Award in 2009 as well as Somerset dining pub of the year for many years. This gastro pub is within walking distance down quiet country lanes - what more could you ask for?
