This romantic retreat is the kind of place you’d expect on the pages of a glossy interior design magazine, with beautiful Scandi style design and situated in arguably one of the most beautiful parts of Britain – the Skye coastline. The Shorehouse has been specially designed by architects to provide romantics with a spacious and stylish home while making the most of the stunning scenery through its huge windows.
The Shorehouse is a design-lover’s dream. Park up in one of your two private parking spots and step inside and you’ll find there’s a Scandi charm flowing throughout the place – with clean lines and natural materials. First, you’ll find the open plan living room, complete with log burning stove and cosy underfloor heating, which runs through the living and bedroom areas. This hideaway is coast-facing, and with ceiling-to-floor windows you can enjoy the beach even from the comfort of the sofa.
Added extras make this space a home, with Scottish tweeds and luxurious linens, along with furnishings from artisan designers and craftsmen, sourced from the Highlands and beyond. There’s also complimentary wifi running throughout.
Step across from the living space and you’ll find The Shorehouse’s modern kitchen, complete with everything you might want to cook up a masterpiece while you’re on holiday, and a kitchen bar so you can enjoy a chat at the same time.
Wander through into the master bedroom with a king size bed and more floor-to-ceiling windows, showing off a 180 degree panorama featuring the Beinn na Caillach hills in the distance and the stunning skyline of the Applecross mountains. Closer to The Shorehouse, you can watch the water rolling in and out – on high tide it’s just metres away.
There’s an ensuite bathroom here, featuring a stunning handmade cooper freestanding bath and shower. Keep an eye out for the complimentary Arran Aromatic toiletries.
Next door you will find an extra bedroom, with adult-size bunkbeds designed by a Scottish furniture-maker – ideal if you’ve got friends or family coming too.
A little extra we love at The Shorehouse is the wooden outdoor seating area – perfect for a fresh air breakfast, or for a close look into the night sky. This is a good place to spot the Northern Lights glowing white in winter.
The coast here is full of birdlife and the beach is sandy – plus you have your own private slice of shore while you are here, which is perfect for romantic walks.
The retreat’s owners recommend you try out some of the great eateries in the area. From the fabulous Hebridean Inn just over the road to the selection of restaurants and cafes in the village.
When you are ready to step out from this romantic Scotland hideaway, we recommend you check out some of the local sights. There’s the beautiful Dunvegan Castle, or the famous Talisker Whisky Distillery. Meanwhile if you like hiking you are spoilt for choice with the Trotternish Ridge, the famous rocky hill of Storr, and world famous Jurassic coastline at your disposal.
