This charming hideaway brings luxury to the Lake District – so you can enjoy the best of the English countryside in style. No. 2 Rose Cottage is surrounded by hills and valleys, in the pretty South Lakeland village of Bouth. It has a romantic woodburning stove, luxury king size bed and is only a short drive from a Michelin Restaurant, making it a great location for a romantic getaway in the Lake District.
Drive up to the front of this cottage for two and you will find a pretty patio garden with views across the valley – perfect for a leisurely holiday drink or alfresco dinner. Inside, the door opens to a beautiful kitchen and dining space, fitted with Belfast sink, electric hob and oven and a farmhouse kitchen table with period seating. You will find homemade cake and goodies waiting for you to start your holiday with a treat.
The cottage’s relaxing lounge is perfectly presented with whitewashed walls, wooden beams and comfortable seating, arranged around the log burning stove. There is a TV with Sky, and the cottage also has wifi, iPod dock and Bluetooth speaker. And the spacious utility room boasts a fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer – all the modern conveniences you might need.
Upstairs, the bedroom is furnished with a king size feature bed, Lakeland views from the window, and a standout ceiling with original wooden rafters. Alongside this is a luxurious bathroom with a double ended free standing bath and shower.
This is a great cottage for a summer Lake District getaway, when you can sit out in a patio garden, and fire up the barbecue. There is private parking for one car and secure mountain bike storage available. The cottage doesn’t cater for pets, just for couples.
The laid back village of Bouth offers a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. It was once home to Christine McVie from Fleetwood Mac! In the village, you can find the popular White Hart pub, just a short walk from the cottage, serving excellent home cooked fare and local ales. Nearby, the Old Hall Farm offers a farm shop and makes its own dairy ice cream, which you can enjoy in its charming tea room.
This location is ideal for exploring the Lake District, and is within easy reach of the picture perfect villages of Coniston, Hawkshead and Grasmere, along with hundreds of walking routes which lead through valleys, past secret tarns and up to the tops of the fells.
No. 2 Rose Cottage is a short distance from the very southern tip of Windermere. Further up the valley, you enter Grizedale Forest with miles of footpaths and mountain bike trails waiting to be explored. Gummer’s Howe and High Dam are two of the most popular Lakeland walks and both are found a short drive from the cottage.
Also close to the cottage, you will find the unspoilt medieval village of Cartmel, which has grown up around its famous 12th Century medieval Priory Church. It is a special place where ancient history and tradition mingle effortlessly with the present day. This has become something of a foodie paradise over recent years and boasts several top quality eateries, including the internationally acclaimed Michelin Star restaurant, L’Enclume.
