Baliemore Cottage | A perfect escape to one of Scotland's most romantic areas

Get away from it all in this newly renovated holiday cottage set in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland. We love Baliemore cottage’s location; no neighbours and stunning views from the surrounding countryside across the sea to the island of Jura. And with so many things to do in the local area we think this makes a great base for a romantic break in Scotland. It’s dog friendly too so bring your four legged friends along to complete this romantic getaway.

Baliemore cottage is located on the stunning coast of Argyll, just south of Lochgilphead and looking across the sea to the island of Jura with its impressive mountains. It is set completely on its own so this only add to the romance. It feels a world away and yet it’s only a 2 hour’s scenic drive from Glasgow.

Inside, the cottage is newly refurbished so everything is clean and fresh. The open plan living room with two comfy sofas leads into the large kitchen where you will find everything to cook up a romantic dinner for two. You have the choice of two double bedrooms and the shower room features a very large walk in shower, perfect for when you come back from a romantic walk in the surrounding countryside.

There is so much to see and do in this area. Lochgilphead covers all your practical needs with a decent size supermarket and other shops. The little town of Tarbert has many small shops, cafes and galleries overlooking its historic harbour. For a scenic drive head further north and explore the Crinan canal and the village of Tayvallich where you might be even able to spot their rare beavers. From Crinan you can also go on a boat tour to visit the famous Corryvreckan whirlpool in between Jura and Scarba, not to be missed!

If history is your thing then make sure you stop at Kilmartin Glen with its ancient cairns. There is also a very informative museum here with lots of fascinating artefacts from the old Gaelic kingdom of Dalriada. Follow the road north for stunning scenery around every corner and stop off in little places like Ardfern. Eventually you’ll end up in the bustling town of Oban - the gateway to Scotland’s many islands. We love the famous little Green Seafood Shack. right on the docks, where the fresh catch of the day like lobster, crab, salmon and scallops are expertly cooked and served at very reasonable prices.

More locally there are also some fabulous beaches. Make sure you don’t miss Kilmory Beach; with its white sandy shores and crystal clear waters it’s perfect for a romantic walk. And after a day of walking or exploring return to your own getaway at Baliemore Cottage.
