Pottergate Tower | A historic tower perfect for honeymoons, wedding proposals and extra special romantic breaks for two

Looking for something extra special? We think there’s no better place to celebrate your anniversary, enjoy your honeymoon, plan a romantic surprise break or even pop the question. Pottergate Tower is a unique holiday cottage, set on the edge of Alnwick and overlooking the medieval town and castle. This is one of Europe’s most special holiday cottages and the couple lucky enough to stay here will likely never forget the experience.

Don’t take our word for it; Pottergate Tower was shortlisted in the 2017 ‘Best Holiday Home in Europe’ finals organised by the European Holiday Home Association, quite an achievement indeed! But we can easily see why. This romantic tower has been painstakingly restored to retain all its historic architecture and features whilst introducing all mod cons and contemporary art and furniture - no small feat.

On the first floor you will find the state of the art kitchen. With its sleek, clean lines, large kitchen island with breakfast bar and little luxuries like the Tassimo coffee maker it’s a great place to start the day. A modern dining table in front of the beautiful stone wall provides the setting for romantic candle-lit meals. Tucked away behind the kitchen is a secret reading room with romantic window seat.

Go up the original stone spiral staircase and you’ll arrive in the stunning living room. With its high beamed ceilings, arched mullioned windows and exposed stone work it’s the perfect back drop to the contemporary furniture and artwork. On this level you’ll also find the boutique style bathroom with large walk-in shower, quality fittings and luxury toiletries by the White Company.

The romantic bedroom is located on on the mezzanine level over the lounge. The super king sized bed sits beautifully under the wooden beams and the views from this top floor across Alnwick and the castle are to die for. Just imagine waking up to this…

Pottergate Tower’s location is great for exploring the town. Head down to Narrowgate where you can find lots of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. A visit to the very impressive Alnwick Castle with the contemporary Alnwick Garden is a must. Or head further afield to Bamburgh, the Borders or some of the country’s finest beaches.

But at the end of the day the highlight has got to be coming back to your very own romantic tower. After all, does it get any more special than that?
