Little Owl Cottage is a grade II listed romantic thatched cottage in Devon, with its own private hot tub in a garden overlooking the beautiful surrounding countryside. The cottage is hidden away in the small village of Knowstone, near Exmoor. The area’s Michelin Starred Pub, The Masons Arms (Michelin Pub of the Year 2010), is just stone’s throw away. Exmoor is an ideal place for a short break with plenty of activities available such as horse-riding, walking, visiting local villages and sampling the essential Devon cream teas! Little Owl cottage is close by the Two Moors Way.
Full of character this 16th Century cottage has original uneven cob walls, window seat, inglenook fireplace, original bread oven and many other period features. There are also a collection of CDs and DVDs, magazines and books for guests’ enjoyment, as well as an honesty bar!
The kitchen is well equipped with Denby pottery and Le Creuset pots and pans, ceramic hob, oven, dualit toaster and kettle and butcher’s block. The kitchen leads out to the long secure grassed garden with stepping stones leading to a large paved area with garden furniture which offers breath-taking views of Exmoor National Park.
The bedroom, encompassing the first floor, is beautifully decorated in welcoming and relaxing Farrow & Ball colours and throws from Mulberry, a luxury duvet and mattress, and white iron bed.
The lounge area again is full of character and charm including a large inglenook fireplace with original bread oven and a wood burning stove, large window seat and original ceiling beams. Restoration has been tastefully completed with small touches like Bakelite light switches and hand made Nigel Tyas wall lights. The lounge also has the home comforts you would expect, from an extra comfortable Laura Ashley leather sofa to a Sony LCD TV and DVD and cosy dining table made for two.
The hot tub is a top of the range six person luxury Beachcomber hot tub – perfect for two – with lots of jets and a champagne tray. Guests can enjoy sunny afternoons and starry evenings in the hot tub, whatever the weather its a perfect romantic place to soak away the stresses of normal everyday life. On occasion you will be lucky enough to see wild deer roam the fields, rabbits hopping, by as well horses and little lambs.
