Kingfishers | A luxury hot tub lodge on a private island in 35 acres of parkland

Hot tub heaven! Located on its own private island and surrounded by 35 acres of lakes, gardens and woodland, Kingfishers is a lodge unlike any other. Accessible across a private footbridge and complete with your own jetty, rowing boat and large hot tub, this romantic bolthole makes for a perfect Devon honeymoon retreat or short break getaway. On top of all this you will be greeted on arrival by Champagne and flowers.

Woody park in beautiful east Devon is a bit of a hidden gem. Owners Richard and Pang have created a very special parklike haven, full of lakes and specimen trees, all teeming with wildlife. It’s a perfect spot for romantic walks, bird watching, wildlife photography and with the bottom lake stocked with some huge carp it’s also an angler’s paradise. In warmer weather, these enormous fish bask in the sunshine of the shallower water’s edges - quite a sight!

Careful not to lose its unique character there are only two lodges in the entire park (the other lodge is no less than 200 metres away) and are let to couples only. Kingfishers is very special due to its location on a private island and access via a footbridge, as well as the option of taking your loved on for a romantic ride in the rowing boat moored on the private jetty outside your lodge.

But don’t be fooled by its natural surroundings; inside this lodge still offers all the luxury and mod cons you would expect from a five star holiday cottage. There is a fully kitted out kitchen including hob, oven, microwave and the all important dishwasher. The large lounge offers comfy sofas and even two reclining chairs, a perfect spot to make the most of the high Speed internet, a Sky+ HD TV and DVD player.

We love the fact that in addition to the private outdoors hot tub, indoors the generous bathroom also features a large double ended whirlpool bath as well as an impressive separate walk-in shower.

The lodge is designed to make the most of the great outdoors with stunning lake views from all windows, two covered verandas with tables and chairs and a gas barbecue. And did we mention the large private hot tub…

Woody Park is also an ideal base to explore the Devon countryside. The Blackdown Hills are on your doorstep and the East Devon Area of Natural Beauty offers an irresistible mix of rolling hills, hedgerows, woodlands and some of the county’s finest beaches and coastline. We love the tiny coastal village of Beer, just outside of Seaton. It boasts a gorgeous unspoilt beach and an old fashioned country pub with views to die for.

The market towns of Taunton and Honiton offer a good range of individual shops, boutiques, and cafes while the city of Exeter makes for a great day out with its historic quayside, beautiful parks & gardens and vibrant city centre.
