Romantics seeking an adventure for two can set sail in this working canal boat, which sits on the historic Chesterfield Canal. This is a great opportunity to taste life on the water, with a bit of added luxury just off the boat, including a private bubbling hot tub, barbecue fire pit and a sauna on site.
Step aboard this 57ft narrowboat, and you’ll find a cosy world that is ideal for a trip for two. There’s natural wood running throughout Kingfisher’s interior, taking you firstly into the kitchen. This is fully equipped and even includes a dishwasher. Keep your eye out for your own generous welcome hamper, featuring bacon and sausages, and eggs from free roaming chickens owned by the boat owners.
Carry on from here and you’ll find a living and dining area, complete with a comfy velvet sofa, a smart TV and a log burner with a starter pack of wood, for cosy nights in. The boat is warm and toasty throughout, and is fully insulated with central heating.
Keep on going and you’ll come to Kingfisher’s beautiful bedroom, with a luxurious king size bed. It’s amazing how the space has been used to give a luxury hotel feeling. Here, you can sleep sound, and enjoy the gentle rocking of the boat on the water.
There is an ensuite bathroom with a shower and eco toiletries for you to use too.
You’ve got choices while you’re here – firstly, you can keep the canal boat static and enjoy it as your own floating hotel. While you’re moored up, you are welcome to enjoy the private fenced off garden area adjacent to the canal, including its sauna cabin and hot tub, and be sure to step outside for some beautiful sunsets. And now there is also an aromatherapy steam room exclusively for the use of Hawthorn Hideaway guests. There’s also a rowing boat for hire; perfect for a romantic picnic or even a proposal on the water.
And secondly, you can cast away and self drive the boat along the canal to explore. The owners will give you full training if you want to drive the boat, and there’s a manual included too. To drive, you need to be over 21 and competent enough. Insurance, petrol, gas and electricity are all included. The minimum stay is 2 nights, you can check in on Mondays, Wednesday or Fridays, except bank holidays and valentines when there is a 3 night minimum stay.
A two hour journey takes you to the famous Drakeholes Tunnel and The Duck Restaurant in one direction, and the West Stockwith Marina and The White Hart Pub in the other. Did we mention this is a great excuse to try some lovely canal side pub lunches too?
