We love the Cornish coast, with its altogether holiday vibes – and weather! Juliot Cottage puts you right in the midst of the harbours, sandy beaches and quaint cobbled streets of St Ives. It’s a wonderful place for a romantic retreat – with its miles of sandy coastline, facing all the sunsets, its walking opportunities in unspoilt countryside, a trendy art scene including the Tate, and even a chance to try your hand at surfing. Dog friendly, Visit England 5 star rating, Gold award Green award and award winner for Self-catering Accommodation of the Year at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2020/2021.
Head to Juliot Cottage, in the sweet Downalong area of St Ives, and you’ll find yourself only two minutes from the sandy beaches and harbour front, tucked away in your own little ground floor luxury home. Step inside onto underfloor heating and find the cottage’s front room, complete with a large comfy sofa, smart flat screen TV and superfast wifi. Next to this is a perfect dining space for two people to enjoy a romantic meal together.
On the other side of your breakfast bar-style dining space you’ll find a marble-topped modern kitchen, complete with everything you might need, even including a Nespresso machine. The whole place has been given a luxury castaway vibe, which we think makes it feel like a breath of fresh air. Keep your eyes peeled for the free welcome pack complete with goodies to get your holiday off to a good start.
From here, you can wander through to the bedroom, with its kingsize bed decked out in White Company bed linen, along with ample storage and a smart TV. The en-suite bathroom includes a spacious bath and shower, and the little touches that make your holiday just a bit more relaxing, including luxury towels and Bramley hair and beauty products.
There is a spacious courtyard with luxury furniture to enjoy outside living and dining – which some of the cottage’s reviewers clearly enjoyed! There’s even an outdoor shower out here, perfect if you want to wash the sand from your toes.
Juliot Cottage owners allow one small crate trained dog at the cottage too, so you can bring your pooch along with you for the time away. There is a reserved guest parking space a mile from the cottage, so you won’t be stuck if you are driving in.
Head out the door from here and you are right on The Digey – one of the most iconic streets in St Ives’ Downalong district. The narrow cobbled street connects Fore Street, near the harbour with Back Road West near Porthmeor beach. It’s the perfect location to begin your wanderings.
If you are looking for the sights, there’s everything from horticultural paradise The Eden Project to the gorgeous sculpture hotspot the Barbara Hepworth Museum. Meanwhile, you’re right on the coast, so you can be sure the restaurant opportunities abound. Juliot Cottage owners recommend you scout out the award-winning Porthminster Beach Cafe by the sea and The Loft where you can sit on the sun terrace overlooking the bay while enjoying West Country Oysters or tender steaks.
Try the Surf School, hike up to the historic Knills Mount, head out on a boat trip to see the Isles of Scilly – there are so many things to explore here, we’re sure you’ll love it.
