Hop Pickers’ House | A romantic holiday cottage for two near Ludlow

Peace and quiet are guaranteed at this lovely hideaway in the unspoilt Teme Valley, on the Worcestershire / Shropshire border. The cottage is only a couple of miles from the historic market town of Tenbury Wells and a ‘stone’s throw’ from Ludlow, with its famous restaurants, markets and cafes.

Owners Stephen and Steven have thought of everything: from a welcome pack of local goodies to a well-equipped kitchen, snuggly linen and towels and essential toiletries.

The nine acres of gardens, meadow and woodland around Hop Pickers’ House at Brook Farm ensure a sense of seclusion and tranquillity – guests are encouraged to slow down and enjoy the natural surroundings. As Stephen and Steven suggest, “Go for a walk in the country - maybe not very far, perhaps just to a nice spot by our brook, sit on a bench with a book or lie on the grass and just watch the wildlife and the clouds go by. In the evening you may like to head to the top meadow to watch the sunset with a glass of champagne.”

Hop Pickers’ House has been welcoming visitors for hundreds of years – and is what the owners call ‘lustic’ – rustic but in a luxurious kind of way. It has a spacious open plan layout – relax in rocking chairs beside the wood-burning stove, cuddle up in a really cosy king-size bed, listen to the barn owls, gaze up at the stars or watch TV. And if you would like to make your stay even more memorable then the owners will help you surprise your partner with favourite flowers, chocolates, music or a romantic trail of lights to a beautiful spot near the brook to watch the sun set. Perfect for any special occasion like anniversaries or mini-moons.

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome (you’ll already find two gorgeous Labradors, two sheep and a farm cat or two!).

There’s so much to do in the local area – fantastic places to eat in Ludlow; beautiful gardens to visit at Stockton Bury and Berrington Hall; great walks around Church Stretton and the Long Mynd; cider and wine routes to explore; and our lovely local town, Tenbury Wells, with a unique art-deco cinema.
