Head to the heart of the romantic Bronte countryside to discover a hideaway which mixes wild Yorkshire moors with luxury. Higher Scholes Cottage, next to the quaint town of Haworth, has its own hot tub, log fire and gorgeous four poster bed. The cottage has great views over the countryside that inspired the classic novel Wuthering Heights.
This award-winning retreat is ideal for couples who want a five star break, away from the city. You can wake up to stunning views of the moors, from the comfort of a four poster bed, in the cottage’s master bedroom. This peaceful spot will include chocolates on pillows and carefully chosen finishing touches, for a touch of decadence, with a beautiful en-suite shower room, with heated towel rail and lots of fluffy towels.
The cottage has an ideal bathroom to relax in, with a white roll top bath and underfloor heating. And once you are up you can enjoy breakfast in the cottage’s bespoke kitchen, with its own Yorkshire Stone flagged floor and all the modern conveniences you will need for cooking. Expect to find tea, fresh coffee, sugar and milk, and luxury biscuits awaiting your arrival.
On frosty nights, you can curl up in the lounge by the log burning stove. The cottage owners will put out fresh flowers a bottle of wine and fruit, for you to enjoy from the comfort of the big comfy sofas, and enjoy all the lounge has to offer.
Country walks start from the end of the drive, where there is also a garden and patio area, including enough parking for several cars.
And then: the showstopper. You can step into your own private covered hot tub, and enjoy the views of Haworth, and the countryside that inspired Charlotte and Emily Bronte. Turn on the bubbles and let the cares of the world float away.
While in Yorkshire, it’s well worth visiting the cobbled town of Hebden Bridge, and the 900-year-old Skipton Castle or Shibden Hall. There are plenty of great options if you like walking and we recommend the beautiful wooden valley of Hardcastle Crags. And you can’t miss the Bronte Waterfalls Trail, where nature meets history and literature. There are lots of restaurants to try too. Within walking distance is The Grouse in Oldfield, or within a short drive we recommend The Old Registry in Haworth.
