Head a couple of miles into the hills and you’ll spot your bothy, close to the town of Blairgowrie. A bothy is traditionally a very humble affair, used in the past as a simple refuge for people seeking shelter from the storm. Greengairs, however, is a little different.

The owners have created this bespoke retreat to impress, starting with its bubbling, no-chemical hot tub, waiting for you on the bothy’s covered decking. We love the fact that the hot tub is filled with sparkling mineral water sourced underground on site – that’s real locally-sourced luxury. This is a great place to relax during your holiday, while enjoying the nature all around you, and the bothy’s twinkling lights in the evening.

Step inside and you’ll find a calming, uncluttered space, perfect for unwinding.

There’s a living room with a cosy leather and tweed couch, so you can sit back with your toes in front of the bothy’s log burner.

Across from here, you’ll find the sleek kitchen, complete with dishwasher and washing machine, as well as a microwave and fridge freezer. There’s even a wine cooler – and look out for your own welcome basket from the owners, who would like to treat you to some locally sourced goodies.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of nights in the bothy’s comfortable bedroom, with its king size bed and beautiful views across the Strathmore Valley, coming in through the retreat’s windows. Across from here you will find a spacious modern bathroom, with your own walk in shower.

The eco-credentials of this retreat are impressive. The bothy is clad with local Dunkelk Larchwood, decking made with recycled plastic, air source heating, and bore hole sourced mineral water. The owners of Greengairs wanted to make their retreat a pleasure for guests and a kindness to the environment too. There’s a twin bothy nearby too, which is also available for booking.

At this retreat, you are right on the epic 64-mile Cateran walking trail, which leads through the glens of Perthshire and Angus, making this an ideal location for walking fans. Plus it’s Scotland, so you can be sure the views will be brilliant. This area is also a particularly good choice for fans of cycling, golf, and open water swimming.
