Forge Cottage is the perfect combination of a historic character property and all the modern comforts you could think of. Set on Broadgate Farm Cottages with its pretty brick buildings under clay tile roofs and surrounded by acres of glorious farmland, this really is a perfect escape from your busy everyday lives. This part of Yorkshire is a hidden gem with the gorgeous market town of Beverley on your doorstep. Perfect for pooches too with a safely enclosed large garden and lots of walks from your doorstep.
This luxury holiday cottage is finished to the highest standard so it comes as no surprise that it has been awarded a 5 Star and Gold Award from Visit Britain; high praise indeed for the hard work that owner Elaine has put into this romantic Yorkshire bolthole.
Inside, the attention to detail really stands out. The bright yet cosy lounge has two large super comfy sofas; perfect for relaxing in front of the wood burner on romantic nights in. Oak floors, a beamed ceiling and period windows all add to the charm of this place and you can’t help but relax the minute you arrive. It also comes with Free sat HD TV, DVD player, hi-fi with Bluetooth and free wifi so those wanting to stay connected to the outside world are catered for as well.
No expense has been spared in the spacious dining kitchen; stone worktops, travertine flooring and moderns appliances make this space a joy to be in. Light floods in through the triple aspect windows and patio doors open onto the terrace so you can enjoy your breakfast or dinner al fresco.
Wind your way up the beautiful wooden staircase and you’ll find the generous master bedroom with a king size bed and stunning views across the surrounding countryside. There is plenty of room for a cot (supplied at no extra charge) and if you’re bringing older kids then they will love the additional twin bedroom. This can also be set up as a superking bedroom to give you even more flexibility. The luxury upstairs bathroom features a bath with shower over; downstairs you’ll find a separate cloakroom.
You’ll be spoilt for things to see and do during your stay here. Only two miles away, the town of Beverley is a must see with its cobbled streets, bustling market square and of course the famous church. The original minster was founded in 700 A.D. but building work on the current structure was started in 1220 and finished in 1425 with continued additions over the following centuries. It is classed as one of the finest gothic churches in the country and the panoramic views from the top spire are phenomenal.
Beverley also has a range of independent shops, boutiques and cafes. And whether you fancy a gourmet dinner or a hearty meal in a cosy pub, this place has it all. The Pipe and Glass offers a Michelin starred dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere - perfect for special occasions or a romantic meal out. Alternatively, try The Westwood Restaurant; only a short walk from Westwood Pasture, Beverley’s unique common land area, this is the perfect spot to finish a romantic day in classy surroundings.
A little further afield you’ll find other top destinations such as York, the North Yorkshire Moors or some fantastic coastline and coastal towns such as Whitby. For outdoor enthusiasts we recommend Flamborough Head. This stretch of rugged white cliffs is perfect for walks, bird watching or even sea canoeing around the bay.
And what a treat to know that at the end of another great day out you can come back to Forge Cottage, open a bottle of your favourite tipple and snuggle up in front of the wood burner.
