Miller Cottage | A pet friendly holiday cottage for couples perfect for a romantic break in Essex

Step back into time in this very pretty holiday cottage in the medieval town of Saffron Waldon. Miller Cottage is an ancient romantic retreat with bags of character, a lovely walled garden and all the shops, cafes and restaurants on your doorstep. It’s pet friendly too so you can bring one or two dogs along to make your holiday complete.

Downstairs you’ll find a cosy open plan living room with dining area and a lovely wood burner, perfect for a romantic evening in front of the fire. The recent kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need to make you feel at home. We love the old oak timbers and board wooden floor boards which really give you a sense of the age of this property.

There are double doors opening up onto the beautiful walled garden where you can enjoy a meal on the sunny patio area. At night the outdoor lighting adds a wonderful touch to this already special place.

Upstairs are two lovely bedrooms; one double and a large master bedroom with a beautiful brass bed. They are served by a modern bathroom with freestanding bath and separate shower.

The town of Saffron Waldon is known for its markets, independent shops & boutiques, cafes and restaurants so you will always find something to do or somewhere to go. If you’re interested in art then visit the Fry Gallery or if you fancy buying some then we’d recommend the Church Street Gallery. Here you can find some stunning contemporary art and prints or you can buy your loved one some unique jewellery and other gifts. And for lovers of historic homes and gardens the impressive Audley End House is not to be missed!

There’s also a huge selection of places to eat out. From great pubs like the Fleur de Lys or The Coach and Horses to Asian fusion restaurants. For a lunch out we recommend The Curious Goat cafe with its healthy yet yummy menu options and delicious coffee and cakes.
