Earl Grey | A romantic hot tub cottage on a stylish country estate in Wensleydale

We’ve found a very special pint-sized retreat in the most romantic of settings. Earl Grey is part of a stunning Palladian style Georgian model farm, built by the local Earl to remind his wife of her native Italy. Finished to a very high standard and with views of the nearby castle and countryside, it’s like staying in a boutique hotel room but with your own kitchen and wood-fired private hot tub.

Downstairs you’ll find the beautifully finished hand painted kitchen complete with porcelain plates and cups as well as Denby pans and all the utensils you might need. The oak flooring, solid wood worktops and breakfast bar give this space a real warmth, perfect to start the day or return to rustle up a meal after a romantic day out.

On this level you’ll also find the state of the art wet room with luxury travertine tiles, underfloor heating, a monsoon shower and LED lighting. Toiletries and fluffy Egyptian towels are all part of the service and make you feel like you’re in a luxury hotel.

Upstairs is the super romantic bedroom. Complete with Juliette balcony it has views of the pretty new formal garden. You’ll be sure to get a good night’s rest in the stylish mahogany double bed with pocket sprung mattress and more Egyptian cotton bed linen. A smart LCD TV with hi-speed Wi-Fi means you can stream your favourite movies direct to your TV to enjoy a romantic evening in.

The wood-fired hot tub has stunning views across the open Yorkshire countryside and is the perfect place to relax, unwind and fall in love all over again. We love the optional ‘Drop and Dip’ service, where the owner will have the hot tub nice and warm on your arrival with a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge. What better way to start your romantic break in Yorkshire?

The extensive grounds are available for you to enjoy romantic walks and picnics and there is also a sheltered private dining area with solid wood outdoor furniture in front of the cottage.

There is much to enjoy around this romantic holiday cottage for couples in Wensleydale. The estate is located close to the small town of Bedale with cafes and antique shops. Or venture in the opposite direction to arrive at Leyburn where traditional shops, pubs and cafes are placed around the handsome town square. Leyburn is also the largest auction centre outside of London - pop into Tennants Auctioneers for one of their frequent antiques or memorabilia auctions, a great way to spend the afternoon.

For a romantic meal out, we recommend heading out to Richmond. This upmarket town boasts many good restaurants, from French bistro to fine dining so you’ll be sure to find something to your taste here.
