Orchard Bank Barn | A stylish barn conversion nestled in its own private orchard

Orchard Bank Barn isn’t your usual bank conversion. Instead, this romantic retreat offers style, luxury and space with a contemporary twist. Here you’ll find yourself nestled in a private orchard with wild flowers and surrounded by the beautiful Devon countryside. Set on the edge of Dartmoor Nation Park, this cottage for couples is the perfect tonic for busy and stressful lives.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by the spacious open plan living and dining room with a fully equipped bespoke kitchen. Owners Mark and Serena want you to feel at home straight away so a hamper of Dartmoor Ale, West Country wine, Devon honey and local cheese will be waiting for you along with a cute posy of freshly cut flowers. The abundance of windows and the vaulted ceilings give this space a bright and airy feel and the neutral colour palette contrasts beautifully with the blue-grey statement wall. With the use of so many natural textures and materials this is a very comfortable and relaxing place to be that will only add to your sense of well-being during your romantic getaway.

This theme continues in the bedroom where you’ll get views of the wild flower meadow from the super comfy king size bed. With its crisp Egyptian cotton bedlinen and Samba hybrid mattress you’re guaranteed a good night’s sleep. The large en-suite has a fabulous walk in shower and comes complete with fluffy towels, dressing gowns and Bramley soaps.

This bolthole has been lovingly restored and rebuilt by the owners in 2021 using lots of eco-friendly materials and plenty of insulation, so you’ll be nice and toasty during your romantic break in Devon. One of our favourite things here is the setting; the private orchard with glorious views of rolling hills is a wonderful place to be and you can enjoy it sitting around the fire pit and barbecue.

Location is everything. And Orchard Bank Barn certainly has it. Here you are surrounded by the beautiful Devon countryside yet within close range of the desirable market town of Ashburton, renowned for its selection of delis, cafes, restaurants antique shops and even a cookery school. And you’re only a five-minute drive from the stunning Devon moors, perfect for walking, cycling or just watching and observing. And if you fancy a trip to the beach then some of the country’s prettiest beaches such as South Milton and Blackpool Sands are only a forty-minute drive away.
