Egret | A romantic lodge with hot tub, overlooking a private lake in the beautiful Devon countryside

Sink into those hot tub bubbles at this luxury retreat, set in woodland among 35 acres of Devon parkland. Egret log cabin has been created just for couples, with beautiful bedroom views across a private lake, a rowing boat to paddle about in, and a feel of luxury inside and out. Expect to feel treated from the moment you arrive, with chocolates, Champagne and flowers all waiting for you.

This unique hideaway is set in the tranquil grounds of Woody Park, with ancient woodland all around, meaning you’ll have the peace and quiet of leafy surroundings, and an ideal place to wind down. There are three other retreats tucked away here – including Kingfishers and Woodpeckers – all created to give guests some pampering time away.

Set in Cullompton, in the heart of rural Devon, you’ll find this bespoke log cabin right by the lake. Park up and you’ll spot the cabin’s private deck, where you can look out across the water – we think this is a great spot for a cup of coffee, sat on the veranda, or for getting into a good book. We hear that kingfishers, swans, geese, ducks, coots, moorhens, egrets and both green and spotted woodpeckers are all known to make an appearance.

Head inside Egret, through the cabin’s front door, and you’ll find a large open plan lounge and dining area, complete with toasty log burner and reclining chairs – there’s even a massage chair! And this cabin comes with high speed internet and a high definition TV too.

From here, you can step across to find a large modern island kitchen, with everything you might need for self catering, including a dishwasher. There’s a table all laid out for you too, making a perfect spot for dinners in.

Carry on through the cabin to the bedroom and you’ll find a romantic super king size bed. From here, you can wake up to views across the lake. There’s also a modern bathroom with its own freestanding bath and separate walk-in shower.

One of guest’s favourite features at Egret must surely be its Jacuzzi hot tub, where you can fully relax away from it all. We also like the sounds on the cabin’s boathouse, where you can find a rowing boat ready for pottering about on the calm waters on the lake.

While it’s tempting to stay out on the lake all day, there’s a host of attractions nearby that would make great days out too. The gorgeous Exmoor countryside is close-by and boasts some of the country’s favourite long-distance walking routes, including the South West Coast Path and the Coleridge Way. Or a little further afield you can enjoy a day out in the buzzing city of Exeter, coupled with food on the trendy quayside at On The Waterfront.
