Glenfeadon Castle, Portreath Beach
Primrose Terrace
Portreath
Cornwall
England
Step back in time at this unique Cornwall hideaway - a stunning 19th century folly complete with beautiful sea views. The stunning Glenfeadon Castle is set on the hillside of the quaint North Cornwall village of Portreath, only a ten minute walk to the soft sandy beach. Step inside this romantic retreat and you’ll encounter a world of luxury - and some unique additions that make this retreat a little extra special like the fabulous outdoor roll top bath. And it’s pet friendly too.
On the ground floor, you’ll find a tasteful and relaxing bedroom, complete with cosy king size bed and vintage furnishings. This is a great spot for a relaxing night’s sleep - and we like the round folly walls, which give this space a soft and cosy feel. Next to this, you’ll find your own en-suite bathroom, which includes a walk-in rainfall shower and heated towel rail, with natural slate flooring.
Head up the hand-crafted cast iron spiral staircase and you’ll come to the first floor kitchen area. This includes a Bosch electric oven, hobs, a fridge freezer, microwave, and even a Tassimo coffee machine.
Just across from here in this open plan living space, you’ll find one of our favourite spots in this property - a cosy snug, complete with wood-burning stove, a comfy sofa for two, a 32-inch TV, and three beautiful arched windows, where you can look out onto Portreath’s famous Gull Rock. The exposed stone walls and wooden floors give this space a truly historic feel, while its quirky lighting and black-edges add a cool modern twist.
Outside, there’s a good sized outdoor area, complete with a fire pit for those late evening summer barbecues. And at the corner of the property there’s even an outdoor bath, connected to the hot water, so you can soak up the suds in style, while watching the stars. This would be a great way to kick back after a day on the beaches.
Cornwall’s many fans will tell you that there’s plenty to do around here. The rock pools, cute cafes, and surf shops of Portreath are literally a few minutes away. And if you’re a real coast fan, the nearby surf spot Porthtowan is also highly worth a look. Visitors to the area can enjoy days out at the nature reserve Tehidy, while big walking fans might like to link onto the Cornwall Coast Path, which takes you from Portreath to Hell’s Mouth and on to Gwithian.
