Sun, sea and surf. Or ice-cream if you prefer. Bude is a fabulous place for couples to enjoy a fantastic short break or holiday on some of Cornwall’s best beaches. And we have found just the place for you to stay in utter luxury. Bol-Y-Maer is a small development of boutique self catering apartments just 200 metres from the beach with sea views, sleek furnishings and even a swish indoor swimming pool.

Our pick would probably be No.5 - this top-floor apartment boasts vaulted ceilings and some great sea views from the large balcony. Open up those sliding doors and bring the outside in! It also has lots of character with thoughtful and comfortable furnishings throughout.

The open plan living, dining and kitchen area gives it a bright and airy feel. There’s a large kitchen island with stools so you can cook and relax together. The dining table is a perfect place to have a romantic meal together while the comfy sofa invites you for a cosy night in after a busy day on the beach.

The master bedroom also faces the sea and we love the Juliette balcony. Just imagine your morning coffee in bed with the doors open and the sea breeze coming in - heaven!

And after a long day on the beach what would be nicer than a soak in that gorgeous egg shaped free-standing bath.

Boasting two beaches and a unique tidal swimming pool, Bude is a great base to unwind and top up your tan. There are plenty of independent shops, cafes and restaurants too so there’s no chance of getting bored.

For a romantic meal out we recommend Potters, where fresh produce is turned into works of art, or Sea Fever, a bistro style restaurant with some of the best seafood in the area. And while you’re here, it would be rude not to try one of the amazing pies from the Cornish Pie Company, reputedly the best in the land!
