Relax in the contemporary freestanding bath large enough for two or enjoy a refreshing shower in the large monsoon walk-in shower, all with stunning views through the picture window. To complete it all you’ll find Elemis toiletries and fluffy bathrobes and slippers.

We also love the undercover balcony with gorgeous views across the village and surrounding countryside. It has a comfy sofa and outside heater so it’s a perfect spot to enjoy a glass of champagne all year round.

Little touches like the underfloor heating and remote controlled gas fire make your stay even more comfortable anytime of year. You’ll also find all the tech you could wish for on your romantic Lake District break like a large 55 inch Smart TV and Sonos sound system. And with its large utility room with washer dryer and ironing facilities this cottage would be an ideal base for longer stays.

Cartmel is one of the prettiest villages in The Lake District. It boasts a medieval priory, fascinating architecture and an array of great pubs, cafes and restaurants. It is also the home of the famous Cartmel races and of course l’Enclume, the only three-starred Michelin restaurant north of the Home Counties. Owner Simon Rogan also has a second restaurant in the village, Rogan & Co. where you can enjoy a more informal dining experience.

But if you fancy staying in then we recommend Unsworth’s Yard. Here, Cartmel Cheeses has some of the best local(ish) cheeses on offer and you can pick up a great bottle of wine in the Drink Shop next door. Or if a beer is more your thing then just around the corner you can sample some locally brewed real ale at Unsworth Brewery.

And of course theres are some fantastic walks on your doorstep, from a level walk around the pretty Cartmel woods to a more strenuous walk up Hampsfell which will reward you with some of the best 360 degree views anywhere in the Lake District.
