Awel-For | A romantic holiday cottage in West Wales with its own hot tub

Awel-For means sea breeze in Welsh; a well chosen name as this very cute little fisherman’s cottage is located only 150 yards from the beach at Llansantffraed, Llanon in West Wales. This picture perfect cottage has been decorated and furnished with great care and attention to detail including walls clad in painted pine tongue & groove boards and a lovely roll top bath, making it a beautiful and cosy seaside retreat. Outside you’ll find a private hot tub with country views - no wonder it was voted as one of the Sunday Times Top 100 UK Cottages in 2010!

Awel-For is a very romantic cottage, perfect for coming home from a lovely day out to an open log fire and roll-top bath. The cottage sits virtually in the shadow of the historic Llansantffraed Church and on a dead-end road next to the river so it’s a quiet and peaceful location. There is a shingle beach near the cottage and you’ll often find you get the whole beach to yourselves. The Cottage is an ideal location if you want to arrive, leave the car and have everything you need within 10 minutes walk. In Llanon you’ll find a few pubs, a fish and chip shop, a fabulous bakery, two butchers and a local museum cottage. There are stunning walks in and around the area, including the costal paths.

Inside Awel-For you’ll find a small entrance lobby with doors left to the bedroom and on the right to the open plan kitchen / dining / living room. Note that if more than 2 stay the bathroom is off the main bedroom. We don’t recommend this cottage for 4 adults.

The main room is open to the rafters, with sash windows to the front and side and a small window to the rear. It is an open-plan living space including the kitchen, lounge and dining areas. The room is centred on the open log fire, and includes a leather double sofabed. Mod cons include a CD stereo, plasma television with basic Sky satellite package and DVD player. The new kitchen is in a simple country style with Belfast sink, solid wood counters, fridge and microwave. There are table and chairs for 4.

The double Bedroom has sash window to the front and a bathroom off to the rear. There is a stripped pine floor, new furnishings and a Victorian bedroom grate (not in use). The double height ceiling give the room a light and airy feel and internal walls have been clad in painted pine tongue & groove boards. The bathroom, with a window to rear has all new fittings including a roll-top double-ended bath and a modern shower cubicle with power shower.

Outside there is a small seating area with bench to the front inside the stone wall, and a very small enclosed garden to rear (watch out - dogs could escape!). The lane to the rear runs alongside the river down to the beach.

To complete your romantic break in Wales the owners will include a bottle of bubbly, a welcome card and some Welsh cakes. Last minute discounts of up to 30% are available and there are other discounts for selected dates during the year.
