With its thatched roof and its pink lime-washed walls, this picturesque country cottage is as cute as a button and comes complete with its own private hot tub. Nestled between trees, and just a short walk from the beach, Ty Rownd is ideal for those who love coastal walks, quaint Welsh towns and beautiful valley views.
This historic cottage has been part of the West Wales town of Aberaeron for more than two centuries. Now, it’s been updated to add some luxury for guests, with toasty heating, plenty of modern additions and its own hot tub cabin.
Step inside and you’ll find a beautiful interior, with wooden beams and cosy furnishings. There’s a living room with a sofa, chair and woodburning stove for relaxing nights in. Across from here, in this open plan space, you’ll find a modern kitchen with everything you might need for cooking while you’re away, along with a dining table and chairs.
There’s a bathroom, complete with a modern shower, and then up some stairs, you’ll find a mezzanine floor with a peaceful bedroom, complete with double bed and soft lighting. The cottage has free wifi for guests, and parking at the front of the property, where there is also an enclosed garden.
Outside, and only a few steps away, you’ll find Ty Rownd’s own hot tub cabin, complete with bubbling hot tub inside. This is a great place to enjoy a relaxing soak, and from here you can enjoy the beautiful Aeron Valley views.
There’s also a decked patio by the cottage, with your own picnic bench, which acts as a great spot for lunch outside on sunny days, or those morning coffee moments.
This is a pet friendly retreat, so bringing a dog along with you is allowed. It’s also possible for friends to stay with you for a small extra charge, as the living room sofa opens out into a bed.
Once you are ready to explore, you’ll find lots to do in the area. There’s plenty of walks to try. To start off, the cottage owners recommend a stroll to the National Trust’s nearby Georgian estate called Llanerchaeron. You can reach this on a three kilometre path through the valley.
The town of Aberaeron boasts multiple great restaurants to try - and the seafood is worth looking out for. We like the look of restaurants including the highly rated Stubborn Duckling, and Y Seller.
For those looking to explore the sights further afield, the thriving university town of Aberystwyth and the coastal town of Cardigan with its historic castle - and bottlenose dolphin sightings - are just a short drive away.
